Our first movie trailer released – I Saw A Light

A Headful of Bees artist collective is very please to release our first movie trailer, “I Saw A Light”, which was filmed, directed and edited by our very own Darja Könnig with music by another Beehead Eric Eckhart.

The film stars Sandra Plaha, Eric Eckhart and Louis Widmann and was filmed in Berlin.

Most scenes were filmed with a Canon EOS 600D and the Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 II lens.

There was no budget for the film, with everyone donating their time and talent and pulling together to produce a true collaborative project. Huge thanks and congrats to all who took help in so many ways.

Our first 2012 release and how you can get aboard!

As 2011 rolls towards its end, we’re buzzing with excitement at the looming completion of our first release of 2012 – Wasp Summer’s debut album, Close as a Slow Dance. After many years of working in bands, this is a defining milestone in her solo career – a showcase of her formidable talent as a singer-songwriter, a commitment and a launch-pad, and above all a damn fine collection of songs!

And not only can you have your very own copy of the first Headful of Bees release for the year: you can be part of it and score yourself some fantastic bonuses in the process! Wasp Summer has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise the funds needed for mixing, mastering and manufacturing. From pre-ordering a download at an absolute bargain price to a veritable multi-media musical feast including a living room concert, a year’s worth of postcards, a limited edition chapbook, the album on CD and a whole bunch more, every contribution helps get this great music out into the world. We’d love to have your support, and by supporting independent artists, you know that your hard-earned goes straight to the people making the music.

If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of hearing her, check out Wasp Summer’s demos on SoundCloud, BandCamp and ReverbNation. If you like what you hear, please pop on over to IndieGoGo to see how you can help get the shiny finished product into your eager hands and ears. And if you’re in Europe, keep your eyes on the gig pages for a Wasp Summer show near you!

“Collaboration & Cooperation” Workshop for DIY/DIT Artists at #a2n_werkstatt

http://www.all2gethernow.de/collaboration-cooperation-workshop-for-diydit-artists-at-a2n_werkstatt/

Part of #a2n_werkstatt, the #a2n_connect series’ workshop focuses on the approach of “doing it together” as the basis of an efficient business as well as surviving strategy for creatives.

Collaboration and cooperation in previous workshops have proven to be the most important means in organisation. It’s a crucial part for the artist to work with a small team (DIT/Do-it-together), or to cooperate with fellow artists to overcome the most difficult phase in an artist’s career – to get it started. To succeed here means: lowest financial effort to achieve highest attention and largest reach.

Issues will be:

  • Alternative touring ideas – ‘Reducing costs and building a grassroots fanbase’ – including using “Mitfahrgelegenheit”, coach surfing, house concerts and other alternative venues, performing together
  • Bookings and contact sharing – Ways to build and share a database of venues and contacts
  • PR – Using DIT to promote each other’s work, focusing on alternative PR opportunities such as smaller blogs, regional newspapers and smaller regional radio
  • Embrace your freedom – make the most of your DIY/DIT position by experimenting with different and adventurous marketing, promotion and performance ideas. Also, collaborating with different art forms such as film, art, drama and dance.
  • Making the most of new media – integrating free live streaming with social networks, demystifying the writing, recording and rehearsing processes, easy and low cost digital distribution options
  • Sustainably living as an artist – ‘Alternative funding ideas – looking beyond crowdfunding’ – public, private and corporate funding opportunities

Our guests like Eric Eckhart (singer/songwriter), co-founder of the collaboration project “A Headful Of Bees”, provide full insight into their approach and talk about experiences & challenges. In detail we will introduce and explain the evolution right from the start to developing the concept of collaboration & cooperation – and how its been realised.

The workshop in its entirety takes the approach of an open discussion. At any point, the audience is able to participate by giving feedback, posing questions or asking for advice.

She did it!

Massive congrats to Nina Hynes for reaching her crowdfunding goal on www.fundit.ie for her new album.

This was a huge undertaking and we all followed along as Nina steadily moved to her goal of raising €10,000 for her new album. Folks, that is no small feat to say the least. In fact, she still has 2 days left and the money keeps coming in.

It was also great to see so many people from the music scene here in Berlin and especially in Ireland who rallied behind Nina and helped her fulfill her dream to record this album independently. What a great testament to her art and to the spirit of people to see others succeed.

You can listen to Nina’s music here on Bandcamp.
